Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken of his respect for Ryan Giggs and has urged his team-mates to celebrate the Welshman's 700th match for Manchester United by beating Liverpool and moving 12 points clear at the top of the Premiership.

Giggs becomes only the second ever play to reach the landmark for Manchester United and Ronaldo admits he can't imagine being able to follow in his footsteps, but urged youngsters to look at the winger as a role model.

"It is an unbelievable achievement," Ronaldo told MUTV. "It is difficult to imagine myself doing that, almost impossible. But it is great for Ryan. He is a great example to all the young players.

"The best present we can give him would be a win. If we can do that, we would be 12 points in front, which is where everyone wants to be. It would take us another step closer achieving our objective, which is winning the Premier League."
