Lucky boy show his values

Get Your Rudebox!!

Match-winner Cristiano Ronaldo admits the Reds rode their luck against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, but says that United must continue to be ruthless in pursuit of the Premiership title.

The 22-year-old winger conjured a moment of magic in the 89th minute when his superb late strike gave United all three points in a physically gruelling encounter.

"Maybe we were a bit lucky," he admitted, "but football is like this. Sometimes you are the better team and don't win the game. We played hard and this is an important result for us."

Asked if Chelsea are capable of closing the gap, Ronny responded: "The most important thing is Manchester. We don't think about Chelsea. Nine points is a very good advantage, but we need to carry on."

Ronaldo admitted the players were tired after Tuesday's Champions League match against Lille, but he gave credit to the way Fulham played.

"After the Champions League game the team showed that it was a bit tired. It was a very tough game, very difficult. Fulham played well."

He celebrated his goal by running to the sidelines, dedicating the goal to close friend and team-mate Gabriel Heinze.

"The goal was for my team-mates, my club, but especially for Gaby because he is my friend. He told me before the game that I would score, so I ran straight to him."
