Although happy to have scored his first goal as a Madridista, Cristiano Ronaldo stressed the importance of reaching peak form after Tuesday's match.
"I am very happy to have scored my first goal for Real Madrid. It isn't always possible to do those plays because opponents don't let you. One objective is crossed off the list, but all that matters is getting in form, taking one match at a time and improving."
"The coach is running tests and we must respect his work. We are just starting off and need to stay calm. This isn't very important. Winning is important, but even more important is reaching peak form."
"The match against Juventus is good preparation for La Liga. We are all getting to know one another on the team."
Real Madrid will set up a Peace Cup semi-final showdown with Juventus after a 4-2 win over LDU Quito.
Cristiano Ronaldo opened the floodgates from the penalty spot, before Esteban Granero, Christoph Metzelder and Alvaro Negredo all got on the scoresheet to secure a victory after LDU had put up a resilient fightback.
First half
With Kaka still not part of the squad's plans for this match, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo were the only summer signings included in the starting XI.
The first 30 minutes only showed glimpses of the football Real Madrid are trying to introduce, with the home side rarely capable of constructing chances on goal.
Liga de Quito had two great opportunities in the 37th minute. Their first one came when Bieler met a cross from the right wing after a slip by Michel Salgado and tried to score with a volley towards the left side of the goal but Dudek was there to keep the match scoreless......More
Cristiano Ronaldo was happy with his debut match at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The player said that getting back into shape is what really matters at this stage.
"We wanted to win, but we faced a tough team. It doesn't matter because this is still the preseason and the important thing is for us to get back into shape. I'm happy."
"We have to think about reaching good form. We've only been working for 17 days and we have to work hard to be in optimum for at the start of La Liga."
"We all have to improve, not just myself and Benzema. We are working very hard and playing friendly games. It is always important to win fixtures, but we have to focus on gaining resistance level for La Liga."
"Many new players have arrived on the team and we are beginning to understand each other. I think it's natural that our hard work still doesn't show."
"I am happy with my debut at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The crowd applauded. I had a lot of fun."
Surprise in the Santiago Bernabéu, with Al Ittihad maintained in respect to Real Madrid, the twenty minutes of the end (1-1). In the game of the second day of the Peace Cup, Raul scored first for the merengues (57 m), taking a good pass from Benzema, but seven minutes after the Saudi team froze the Spanish fans, the tie coming in the wake of a free, head for Aboucherouen. Cristiano Ronaldo, replaced on 65 minutes, was the first holder of the Real Madrid game at home and noticed the affection of fans when he received a big ovation the first time they touched the ball.
Its high point came at 44 minutes when combined with Benzema shot and strong, standing left, to the defense of Zaid, what was the best at Real Madrid's goal in the first part. This was also the best initiative to Ronaldo, who for a few minutes to cross the half-hour until he disappeared.
The Portuguese began the game easy to play, playing at first, trying to schedule with colleagues and create situations of completion. Especially tried to be helpful from a collective, playing more to the team than for himself. In the retina was still a shot over the bar and a pass to Raul has not arrived by centimeters. After all accounts, the display of Ronaldo was not at the level of the best player in the world, but Real Madrid is itself far from the level that was expected. Although shorn of names like Casillas, Kaká and Pepe, among others, the team of Manuel Pellegrini has experienced bad bits, with Miguel Torres and Dudek prevented the goal of Al-Ittihad, once the initial minutes.
Cristiano Ronaldo did not disappoint in his debut for Real Madrid. The Portuguese star was very participative during the 45 minutes he was on the field, and on his opinion "it is too early to draw conclusions." In statements to the channel "La Sexta" Cristiano said to feel good among his companions and with the game system of Pellegrini, saying that he is anxious to play in the Bernabéu: "It will be very special."
"We can not yet draw conclusions, the most important is to keep trying, winning, and then try to shoot more, Score more goals ... We are beginning, nothing is set, I'm giving along with my companions, but it is still the first contact we have on the field. " "For me it is the same to play on the right, left or through the middle, what I want is to play and help the team and to integrate with my colleagues as soon as possible." "I am working well, calm, and I hope to make many goals here. I really want to play at the Bernabéu this Sunday, it will be a very special moment for me and I hope that things continue to flow as well as they are now.
Cristiano Ronaldo gave a press conference and shared his impressions on his first days as a Madridista. The Portuguese star said the entire team is doing a good job.
Michel Salgado said you are as fast as a plane. What did you do in your holidays? I rested a lot. It makes me very happy to receive such praise from Michel because he is used to playing with great footballers. I didn't do any specific workouts during my holidays.
What do you think of Manchester City's new project? Have you been tempted by them at times? Never. Manchester City is a great team. It has great players, but that's not my problem. It is rather United's, Chelsea's and Arsenal's problem. I am a Real Madrid player and all I should worry about is preparing with my team.
What have you talked to Pellegrini about these days? We are working together and getting to know each other. I will not reveal what our conversations were about, but they have been typical of those between a player and his coach. I hope to keep up the good relationship we have.
How important is your signing after the great investment the Club has made in you? The season is obviously very important. The Club has made a great investment and we all have to do our best. We have a great chance because we've got excellent players.
Are the physical workouts different here? I had never trained three times in one day, but I think it's a good thing because we do both physical and ball exercises. The difference really lies in the fact that these are different but equally good players.
Do you think everything you are seeing is normal? I don't find it strange. I think's it's normal for the press to ask questions and I'm here to answer them.
Was it hard to leave Manchester United for Real Madrid? It wasn't easy. I arrived at ManU when I was 18 years old. I won many collective and individual accolades in six years. This is a great challenge, but I am a man who likes challenges.
How are the captains up-close? My first impression was very good. All of the captains and members of the squad gave we a warm welcome. I am very haappy and I will try to do my best. I am happy and motivated. I feel great on this squad.
Who has surprised you the most on the pitch? They all have. They are all training very well, but you always end up having a greater understanding with some more than with others. Guti is training hard, and so are the rest. The entire group is in phenomenal form and we will keep this up.
There are many players fighting for the same spot. Could that tarnish the atmosphere? It's a hard job for the coach, but we all respect each other. Competition is good. I am proud and very happy for being part of this group of players.
What chances has the team got to win titles? We must think about winning it all; that's what Real Madrid is used to. We have great players and a fantastic coach.
You'll face Shamrock Rovers on Monday. What do you know of them? I honestly don't know anything. I would like to play the game. I'm sure it will be a good match. It will be good for us at this stage.
Who are you more anxious to play next to? With everyone. It's hard to choose because they are all frankly good. It's hard to pick out of so many quality players. Pellegrini will have to decide.
Barcelona signed Maxwell for 4.5 millon euuros. How does a 95-million signing regard that? Very well. I think quality has nothing to do with the price each player has. Maxwell is a great player, but I'm not interested in Barcelona's signings. I'm focused on Real Madrid and on preparing for the season.
Do you prefer the Spanish or the English press?[/] The English are very good and the Spaniards 'fantasticos' (laughs). I understand the job the press does, just like I do mine. Some focus on my personal life, but I'm not worried about that. I will always be the same guy.
Were you surprised by Manchester United's singing of Michael Owen and the fact that he now has the number '7' shirt? Could that have a negative impact on him? Owen is an experienced player and I don't think the pressure will affect him. He is a great footballer who has played for many of the most important teams in the world. I think ManU did well in giving him the number '7' shirt.
Are you excited about facing Barcelona after what happened in the Champions League final? I want to face them, but I am also excited about playing against the other teams. The season is very long and winning against Barcelona but losing to the rest amounts to nothing.
Do you regard yourself as a 'galactico' or as the best player on the squad? I'm just another player who's here to help Real Madrid. That's all. I'm the same as the rest, neither better nor worse. In order to win titles we must make a collective effort. I don't like the term 'galactico'.
Do you think failing to win La Liga or the Champions League could turn the investment Real Madrid made in you into a failure? We will win, but if we don't the entire squad will be to blame. I won't be just me. I think we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. We have a great team and we will fight to achieve great things.
What have you most liked since you joined the team? I didn't expect the atmosphere on the squad to be so good because people many times say that it isn't. I loved how I was welcomed onto the team.
Do you prefer to play as a winger or as a striker? I've lately been playing as a striker, but I prefer to be a winger. I won't mind being a striker if that's what the coach wants.
How has the change from ManU to Real Madrid been like? My life has always been based on challenges. I left Lisboa when I was 18 years old to join ManU when I could have waited a bit longer. I am happy about starting a new stage in my career at Real Madrid now.
Cristiano Ronaldo was greeted by a huge crowd of adoring fans as he was officially unveiled as a Real Madrid player on Monday evening.
The former Manchester United player, who moved to the Bernabeu in a world record £80m deal, said that it was a "childhood dream" to sign for the Spanish giants.
It is thought 80,000 fans flocked to the club's stadium for the event - the largest such gathering since Diego Maradona attracted 75,000 when signing for Napoli from Barcelona in 1984.
"I am just so happy to be here,'' he told the supporters inside the ground. "For me, I have made my childhood dream a reality, which was nothing less than playing for Real Madrid.
"I didn't expect a jam-packed stadium - this is truly impressive.''
Speaking at a press conference after his presentation, Ronaldo again said that Real are "the closest club to my heart'' - but admitted it was a wrench to leave England.
"Thank you to all (United) supporters, the boss (Sir Alex Ferguson), friends and team-mates - I've been there six years and have friends there. But people respect my decision,'' he said.
"The great challenge now, and dream, is to play at Real Madrid but I'm going to miss many things in Manchester.''
He said there was no bad blood over his exit. "It was good,'' he said of his departure. "My relationship with him [Sir Alex Ferguson] was always good and will stay that way forever.
"I went to Manchester, spoke to them and everything was fine. Life goes on.''
On his transfer fee, he added: "I have always thought that the best clubs, to have the best players, have to pay - so Real Madrid did a good thing. It was a correct decision.
"I understand...it is not your everyday thing to manage these figures, but I'm happy to be the most expensive player in the history of football and I'm going to prove that they paid good money for me and it was worth it.''
Ronaldo will wear the number nine shirt. Ronaldo registered the CR9 trademark at the start of the year.
Returning Real president Florentino Perez said: "We are very satisfied to know that you made the firm decision to play for Real Madrid. They [the fans] will ask of you the very best, but will also give you their all.''
As with Kaka last week, Ronaldo was brought out onto a stage which displayed all of the club's European Cups.
Raul Albiol has also signed with Karim Benzema set to move from Lyon shortly.
Ronaldo completed his medical earlier on Monday with Carlos Diez, Real's medical chief, told the club's official website: "(Ronaldo) is in perfect condition and very eager to start the season as soon as possible.
"He has an extraordinary cardiac and lung capacity. We have complemented everything that we already did in Portugal and done all the specific tests.
"Now we will be able to start working using an individual plan in order to improve his performance.
"For him (Ronaldo), it's a dream, and this dream starts to convert into reality from today.
Cristiano Ronaldo is now familiar with the Santiago Bernabeu. The player arrived shortly after 14:00 and had a quick tour of the inner confines including a stop at the Presidential Balcony.
After being given the green light at Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital, Cristiano Ronaldo was driven to the Santiago Bernabeu where he was welcomed by Jorge Valdano.
The Director General and Presidential Aide gave the player a bried tour of the stadium and took several minutes to overlook his new pitch from the Presidential Balcony. The two later made their way to Puerta 57 restaurant, where Ronaldo could look out the window to see the sight of where he hopes to have many magical nights of football.
Hundreds of members of the media and dozens of fans gathered at Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital to greet Cristiano Ronaldo prior to his medical checkup. According to Carlos Diez, Chief of Real Madrid's Medical Services, the player is "in perfect condition and looking forward to the beginning of the season."
