Portugal honours Cristiano |
Cristinao Ronaldo's unquestionable talent supplies countless honours for the player, and none are as special as those bestowed upon him by his home country. The Portuguese sports press has named him the best Portuguese Player Outside Portugal.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is part of Portugal," says Antonio Florencio, President of the Portuguese Sports Journalists Association, "It is impossible to understand this country without him. Along with Figo [who also played for Real Madrid] and Eusebio [who has always professed his admiration for the team] he is one of the most important players. Ronaldo is different in that he made a great impact when he was very young and he has already won the Ballon d'Or. He is the captain of the national team and has been capped 70 times. He still has a lot to say, especially now that he plays for Real Madrid."
This is the third time Ronaldo wins the award. "It is a great privilege to win this a third time," said Cristiano, "I am extremely grateful."
The Portuguese Sports Journalists Association was established in 1966. This year, they have also honoured Oporto's Bruno Alves as the Best Portuguese Player in Portugal, Jose Mourinho as the Best Portuguese Coach Outside Portugal, Jesualdo Ferreira as the Best Portuguese Coach in Portugal and Oporto's Hulk as the Best Newcomer in Portugal.

Cristiano suspend for 2 games |
Meeting this morning to discuss the red card shown to Real Madrid's Crisitiano Ronaldo in Los Blancos' weekend fixture against Malaga, La Liga's Competition Committee has decided to suspend the €94 million man for two matches, as reported by Marca.
Madrid have decided to appeal the ruling in a bid to have the punishment reduced to one match. The Appeals Committee meets on Thursday and will make a final decision at that time. In the initial ruling the Competition Committee did not classify the player's action as 'aggressive', which would have carried a ban of at least three matches.
Marca has been with Cristiano Ronaldo on the day after his expulsion. "I did not want to hurt anyone, I was just trying to free me." repeated Cristiano, who spent about 2 hours to eat alone in the restaurant Urrechu and went quickly in his Ferrari on the way to their house to try to get away from controversy.
Despite the massive criticisms that have been made, Cristiano showed his professionalism by showing up in the morning in training with RM, which was voluntary for those who had been holding the match again Malaga.

We need to believe that you can become the best and strive to do |
Yesterday, Ronaldo was one of the main characters take stock of the ceremony, FIFA in Zurich, but today he was in Tashkent. Yesterday, he was recognized as the author of the most beautiful goals in 2009, and today he spoke with Uzbek journalists. It was in the conference hall of the stadium "Fire".
Remember that the most beautiful naked 2009 FIFA recognized the ball Ronaldo scored April 15 at the 6-minute match FC Porto - Manchester United, hit about 30 meters. And in the survey, determine the best footballer the world FIFA midfielder "Real" took second place behind Leonel Messi.

And today, he answered questions from journalists in Tashkent:
What is the main purpose of your visit to Uzbekistan?
I found out that Uzbekistan has adopted and has a "support program for young players" initiated "by the Foundation of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan, I would like to contribute to bringing this project to life. I know a little about Uzbek football, I told him about my former coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.Just yesterday you were in Switzerland, and today - this time in Tashkent. For you a busy schedule of normal business?
I am glad that today I met with you. Yes, my fleeting visit, but I'm over this short time I will give every effort to fulfill his professional duty. I think that more will come to Tashkent, and this time I'll stay here longer.Have you ever been invited to the Turkish clubs? (asked by a journalist of the Turkish Information Agency "Jahon")
No, so I can not say anything about it. In Uzbekistan, the recent master classes are held one after another. Whom would you recommend to be invited to the next master-class?
I can not recommend to anyone, all the stars of football - my friends. But I can definitely say that today I will demonstrate the most beautiful ways of its arsenal. A main objective of such demonstration exercises - to show that everyfootball player must believe that he may be the best and strive for this. This should be the motto of every young football player. You are constantly in the center of world attention obschestvennsti. Hence the question arose: Do you consider yourself primarily a professional soccer player, or more famous thanks to your image?
Of course, first of all, I - a professional footballer, and would like the world to know me only through football. There are rumors that you allegedly received proposals from Russia, in particular from Moscow Dynamo ...
I reported this do not know, but I can tell you that in football anything can not say in advance. You never know what awaits you in the future. How do you view the fact that in the future to open a training center for young footballers?
I am a supporter of this. When there is time, I participated in events for young players. Here's a lull in the championship of Spain, and I took the opportunity to come to Tashkent and met there with local talentedfootball players.[+/-] |

Poor Cris out for four more weeks |
If 'CR9' is forced to go under the knife, he could be sidelined for up to three months...
Any lingering hopes that Cristiano Ronaldo could make a swift comeback from injury have been dashed with the news that he faces at least another month on the sidelines.
Marca report that the Real Madrid star entered a hospital in Amsterdam by the back door at 14:55 CET and underwent a series of scans under the supervision of ankle expert Dr. Niek van Dijk.
Few details have been made available so far, but the key news is that the 24-year-old will be out for around a month if all goes well in his recovery programme.
Real Madrid released a statement on Wednesday evening, stating that, "there has been no clinical improvement of the bone edema". If the problem persists, Ronaldo could be forced to have surgery.
Manuel Pellegrini will be desperately hoping that this eventuality doesn't occur, as 'CR9' would then be out until well into the new year. Marca believe that Ronaldo would need another two or three months to fully recover from any operation.

A short message from Cristiano to the Portuguese national team |
I wished with all my heart to fight for Portugal with you all, but as you know an untimely injury prevents me from doing so.
Your great challenge for this evening is to play a great game to take us to the South Africa World Cup; mine is to recover as soon as possible to help my team, Real Madrid, and our national team to achieve the goals they have set for themselves. I have to fight to recover because I believe that’s the best thing I can do to help the national team whenever it needs me. I want you to know that my heart will be with you in every minute of tonight’s game and that I will be proud of your efforts, just like everyone else in Portugal will be.
I wish you all the best.

Evra: "Cristiano arrogant? It is the best person I knew" |
Patrice Evra insists the image of former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo portrayed by the media is far different than the player he knew.
The defender played alongside the Portuguese winger for three-and-a half years at Old Trafford before Ronaldo switched to Real Madrid for a record £80million in the summer.
Despite being recognised as one of the world's leading footballers many perceive the 24-year-old to be arrogant and moody.
However Evra states that could not be further from the truth and describes the Fifa World Player of the Year as a 'good guy'.
"He's not arrogant," Evra said. "He suffers as a result of his image as a fashion guy but honestly, he's the greatest professional I have ever trained with.

"He never has enough of it. This lad has to be the first everywhere in everything. If you play ping pong with him he can't stand losing.
"And in life, he's really a good guy. He's calm, he loves joking around, he really likes teasing people. In fact he's a bit like (David) Beckham.
"He's driven. They don't give themselves the right to make mistakes."
Evra even went on to point out that Ronaldo does not dive but did admit that the United players poked fun at the forward for his theatrical responses to being fouled.
"There has also been a lot of fouls against him which were never given because of his reputation," he added.
"When you look at the tackles he gets each game, well quite frankly the lad has reason to dive, if not he would break himself.
"After okay, he reacts badly. We also used to tease him."
The France international also highlighted that all the individual awards Ronaldo received towards the end of his stay with the Red Devils only had a positive effect on his personality.
"Yes he changed," he admitted. "At the end he had even more hunger, trained even more, because he needed to be the best.
"I don't know how he will act at Real. At United no-one plays the star. When you're with people such as Ryan Giggs or Paul Scholes, legends of this club, you can't. It's impossible."

From the Bernabeu to the Heavens |
Twenty-four hours before making their Champions League debuts in the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid’s eight new signings climbed to the top of the Torre Europa in Madrid for an incredible view of the stadium.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema, Xabi Alonso, Albiol, Granero, Arbeloa and Garay are about to discover just how majestic the Bernabeu is when it rolls out the red carpet for the Champions League. These eight players will hear the Champions League anthem for the first time in their new home when Real Madrid host Olympique de Marseille on Wednesday. Eight stars whose only goal is to overcome all the obstacles en route to the 22 May final in their own stadium.

After a 29-story elevator ride and a two story hike, the players made it to the roof of the Torre Europa, where they silently looked out in amazement at the views offered by such a vantage point. "Seeing the Bernabeu from here is absolutely incredible," said Kaka as he snapped a picture with his mobile. "I have never seen anything like it. The view is amazing," added Cristiano Ronaldo.
"Playing the Champions League for Real Madrid is a dream come true," whispered Garay, "Real Madrid will return to where it belongs." Pointing down towards the stadium, Arbeloa commented, "That down there is Real Madrid’s stadium, where 95 percent of footballers dream about playing. It is one of the most special pitches in the world." Benzema has already played on it and didn’t hold back his thoughts. "This is a great team full of talented players. We want to win this title which means so much to everyone," said the Frenchman.
Raul Albiol is "anxious to hear the Champions League anthem and for the match to begin." From another point on the roof, Granero commented, "We have plenty of reasons to be excited. We can do some great things in Europe." "Yes. Of course we can win this Champions League," responded Xabi Alonso.
Players and Madridistas believe it is possible, and half the battle is already won with the talent and excitement generated by the squad. The rest of the road won’t be easy and plenty of obstacles still remain, but from the apex of the Spanish capital and with the stadium at your feet, it is easy to envisage Real Madrid being crowned the champion of Europe at the Santiago Bernabeu.
