Cris fit to play for Portugal against Hungary

Cristiano Ronaldo has come through training with Portugal without any setbacks and will be ready to face Hungary on Saturday, according to AS.

Ronaldo missed Real Madrid's defeat to Sevilla on Sunday due to an ankle injury he picked up in Los Merengues 3-0 victory over Marseille in the UEFA Champions League last week and only returned to full training yesterday.

Such was Ronaldo's comfort with the ankle yesterday that a scheduled scan on his ankle was declined by Portuguese medical staff and he trained as normal with the squad.

His availability will be a welcome boost for coach Carlos Quieroz as his side prepare to face their final World Cup qualifiers against Hungary and Malta. Ronaldo has scored 22 times in 67 appearances for his country.

Portugal currently lie third in European Qualifying Group One, five points adrift of leaders Denmark, and two adrift of second placed Sweden. They must win both remaining fixtures to stand any chance of qualifying for the finals in South Africa next year.
