MU 1 : 1 Boro



United's lead at the top of the Premiership was extended at Old Trafford this afternoon, but not by the margin Sir Alex would have hoped.

An early Kieran Richardson goal sent the Reds charging into the lead but a Mark Viduka header in first-half injury time did enough to earn Middlesbrough a point. The result now leaves United just four points clear at the top of the Premiership, with Chelsea playing Newcastle tomorrow.

Before kick-off, United received a boost with the news that Rio Ferdinand had recovered sufficiently from a groin strain sustained seven days earlier to take his place in the starting XI.
