Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Manchester United today amid a major security operation.
It follows the Portuguese winger's controversial part in the sending off of team mate Wayne Rooney in the World Cup quarter-final. Ronaldo is expected to join United's other World Cup stars back at the Carrington training complex.
And he will be shadowed by dedicated minders following discussions with club officials and security staff.The 21-year-old angered England players and supporters by rushing to Argentinian referee Horacia Elizondo after Rooney appeared to have stamped on Ricardo Carvalho.
Ronaldo was then seen winking at his Portugal colleagues after Rooney was sent off.There are concerns he could be a target for England fans' fury despite Rooney saying there are no bad feelings.
